Day 6 - 8 ~ TWIN FALLS, IDAHO

After 4 hours and 249 miles we arrived at Twin Falls 93 RV Park in Filer, ID.  We’ve stayed here before and it is an okay RV Park.  We had a bad site.  We were right next to the check-in and comfort station and near the entrance and road; where there is a lot of traffic with RVs running their engines as they check in.  But it wasn’t that busy and we had no neighbors on one side.

We stayed here for two nights.  On arrival day we just relaxed in the trailer. The next day we drove into Twin Falls to the College of Southern Idaho (nice campus) and explored the Herrett Center for Arts and Science.  This is a small museum run by the College.  It had a nice set up and some very interesting Twin Fall, Shoshone-Paiute artifacts and even some live animals (reptiles).

We had a great lunch at Elevation 486 that overlooks the canyon and river.  I hid one of my painted rocks in this area.

Try to get your mouth around that!
There is a real nice art gallery upstairs from the restaurant. I bought a beautiful enamel over copper pendant of my favorite fall colors. Made by a local artist.

The canyon walk is right next to the restaurant, but we didn’t get too far.  Way too hot!
Our last stop was the famous Shoshone Falls.  But we didn’t drive down for a closer look because the “falls are turned off for maintenance” said the sign at the top of the hill.  Instead, we went to the overlook and yep, the falls were “turned off”.  Actually upstream, the river is diverted for irrigation purposes in late summer, early fall.

We’ve seen the falls before during other trailer trips and they are very spectacular.  If you visit, go during the spring. Below are some pics we took of that visit.

We returned "home" and found the cats laid out on the kitchen counter tops trying to keep cool; despite leaving the air conditioner on.

On to Jackson Hole, and Grand Teton National Park in Wyoming.  Stay tuned.
